DAR ES SALAAM, June 3 -- TANZANIAN Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has directed all local government authorities across the country to establish waste processing and separation centers at the point of generation to ensure safe and sustainable waste management.

The goal is to reduce the volume of waste being sent to landfills or indiscriminately dumped in residential areas.

The Prime Minister issued the directive today, June 3, 2025, while addressing the Youth and Environment Forum held at the University of Dar es Salaam Library Auditorium. The forum is part of the events marking World Environment Day, commemorated annually on June 5. This years national celebrations will be held in Dodoma.
