DODOMA, Aug. 12 -- THE Tanzanian government has directed non-government organizations to increase to enhance self-reliance and shrug off donor-dependence as the donors policy has changed globally.

The call insists on the NGOs to develop alternative sources of income and develop services and projects using resources available in their areas.

This was stated today by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Community Development, Gender, Women and Special Groups, Dr. John Jingu, while speaking at the Non-Governmental Organizations Conference, which is continuing for the second day in Dodoma.
