Dar es Salaam, March 16 -- ZANZIBAR President, Dr Hussein Mwinyi has assured the residents of Mpapa Village in Unguja Central District that the government is committed to addressing the social challenges facing the community.

President Mwinyi made the pledge while speaking to Muslim worshippers after attending Friday prayers at Ijumaa Masjid in the village.

He urged the residents to remain patient, assuring them that the government has plans to resolve the issues they face.

Among the challenges highlighted by the residents were poor roads, lack of a perimeter fence at Mpapa School and the long-standing issue of incomplete health centre.
