Dar es Salaam, April 10 -- DAR ES SALAAM: FOR the first time, the Muhimbili National Hospital-Mloganzila has successfully performed surgery to remove a tumor from a patients lung using a modern, minimally invasive technique.

The procedure was carried out today by local specialist surgeons from both Muhimbili Hospital (Upanga) and Muhimbili-Mloganzila.

Speaking after the operation, the Head of the Surgery Department, Dr. Eric Muhumba, said this type of surgery offers several advantages compared to traditional methods.

“This technique helps reduce pain during and after surgery, shortens the patients hospital stay, especially in the intensive care unit, and avoids large wounds and scars,” said Dr. Muhumba.
