MTWARA, Nov. 25 -- MTWARA Region has set a new record in cashew sales after selling a total of 147,410 tonnes through six auctions held so far under the warehouse receipt system and the Tanzania Mercantile Exchange (TMX).

Speaking during the third cashew nut auction by MAMCU LTD held in Masasi District Council, Acting Assistant Regional Commissioner of Mtwara, Robert Nsunza, said the achievement reflects the strength of cooperative efforts and the efficiency of modern sales systems.

The major cooperative unions, TANECU and MAMCU, have continued to show significant progress in this seasons auctions. Together, they have brought a total of 147,410 tons of cashew nuts to the market through the six auctions held so far.
