DODOMA, June 10 -- THE Tanzanian government has announced plans to expand surgical capacity at the Muhimbili Orthopaedic Institute (MOI) by increasing the number of operating rooms, in a bid to enhance service delivery and respond to the growing number of accident-related cases.

Minister of Health Jenista Mhagama announced on Monday, when inaugurating the new MOI Board of Trustees at the Ministrys headquarters in Dodoma. The board will be chaired by Dr. Martina Njelekela.

“We are committed to expanding operating rooms as much as possible to ensure surgeries can be performed both day and night,” said Minister Mhagama.

“These conditions are often accident-related, and urgent medical intervention is critical.”
