DODOMA, July 30 -- The variety of grapes produced at Makutupora farm in Dodoma has been recognized for its exceptional qualities that place it among internationally acclaimed grape types.
One of its most notable attributes is its high sugar content, making it ideal for juice and wine production.
This was revealed today, July 30, 2025, by Senior Researcher Felista Mpore from the Tanzania Agricultural Research Institute (TARI) – Makutupora Centre, during a press briefing in Dodoma.
According to Mpore, beyond its high sugar levels, the Makutupora Red variety is also resistant to diseases, drought-tolerant, high-yielding, and comes in attractive colors that enhance its market appeal.
