DAR ES SALAAM, Aug. 28 -- FOR the first time in East and Central Africa, the technology to remove tumors from the body without surgery, known as High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU) has been officially launched at Kairuki Hospital in Dar es Salaam.

The technology was launched by the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, Dr. Doto Biteko and congratulated the hospital executives as well as its founder Hubert Kairuki and his wife for their determination in various issues including the provision of the HIFU service which has put Tanzania in the record of removing tumors without surgery in Africa, an issue which will also increase the countrys income.
