Dar es Salaam, March 26 -- DODOMA: THE Julius Nyerere Hydro Power Project (JNHPP) has reached 99.82 percent completion, generating 1,880 megawatts for the national electricity grid as of March 2025.
The total expenditure on the project so far amounts to 6.558 trillion, with 95.90 percent of this cost already paid to the contractor—a joint venture between Elsewedy Electric and Arab Contractors from Egypt.
The Managing Director of the Tanzania Electric Supply Company (TANESCO), Engineer Gissima Nyamo-Hanga, provided this update in Dodoma on March 26, 2025, while presenting a report on the achievements and direction of the company during the four years of the Sixth Phase Government.
