DAR ES SALAAM, Nov. 29 -- FORMER President Jakaya Kikwete has encouraged investments in science, particularly as the country focuses on attaining middle income economy status come the year 2025.

He has also called upon employers to allow their staff to enrol for further studies in raising the number of employees with degrees.

Dr Kikwete voiced the sentiments at the 37th graduation ceremony of the Open University of Tanzania (OUT) held at its headquarters in Kibaha District, Coast Region.

The former president revisited the huge demand for scientists in the country, urging the college to consolidate its focus.
