DAR ES SALAAM, Sept. 16 -- THE government has announced short and long-term measures to support traders affected by a devastating fire that gutted Kawe Market in Dar es Salaam on Sunday night.

The blaze, whose cause remains under investigation, destroyed goods worth millions at the market located in Umbwelani Street in Kawe Ukwamani, leaving hundreds of traders counting heavy losses.

As part of its emergency response, the government has allocated 100m/- in immediate relief funds and committed to rebuilding the market to modern standards.
