Dar es Salaam, March 5 -- ZANZIBAR: THE Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities has announced new measures to encourage both visitors and residents of Stone Town to walk or use bicycles as part of efforts to reduce traffic congestion and enhance the preservation of the historic town.

Acting Minister Lela Mohamed Mussa made the remarks while responding to a question from Mwanakwerekwe constituency representative, Ms Ameir Abdallah Ameir, who inquired about the ministrys stance on promoting bicycle use to ease motor vehicle congestion in the area.

She explained that restricting motor vehicles is aimed at reducing congestion and creating more space for pedestrians to move freely and safely.
