GEITA, Jan. 31 -- THE Geita Municipal Council has approved a proposed budget of 78.8bn/- for the 2026/27 financial year, representing an 8.3 per cent increase from more than 72bn/- allocated in the 2025/26 financial year.
Director of Geita Municipal Council, Mr Yefred Myenzi revealed that during a recent meeting to discuss draft proposals and plans for the 2026/27 budget.
Mr Myenzi said the budget focuses on completing strategic projects while improving infrastructure and social services to meet the development needs of the municipality.
He added that, alongside the budget increase, the council has strengthened efforts to curb loopholes in internal revenue collection to ensure that allocated funds achieve their intended objectives.
