Dar es Salaam, Feb. 14 -- DODOMA: THE Warehouse Receipt System (WRS) has significantly boosted farmers earnings, with total payouts reaching 2.9tri/- in the 2024/25 season, marking a 142 per cent increase.
The Minister for Industry and Trade, Dr Selemani Jafo said the farmers cashed in only 1.2tri/- in the previous year.
Speaking in Dodoma recently during the opening of 2025/26 trading season through, Dr Jafo attributed the surge in earnings to a remarkable 80 per cent increase in crop collection, which rose from 451 tonnes in 2023/24 to 810 tonnes in the just-ended season.
