DAR ES SALAAM, July 15 -- FAITH leaders have emphasised the vital importance of maintaining peace in Tanzania before, during and after the upcoming General Election, describing it as a cornerstone for sustainable socioeconomic development.
The call was made in Dar es Salaam yesterday during the opening of the mid-year review meeting of the Tanzania Association for Reconciliation and Peace (JMAT), a multi-faith organisation dedicated to promoting national harmony and mutual understanding.
Speaking at the event, Sheikh Twalib Ahmad reminded attendees that peace is not only the foundation of development on earth but also a pathway to eternal reward in the afterlife.
