Dar es Salaam, April 16 -- DODOMA: THE government has paid pensions totalling 1.085bn/- to 1,794 former employees of defunct East African Community (EAC) institutions.

Finance Minister Dr Mwigulu Nchemba said the payment, covering the period from April to June 2025, was made to former staff of several institutions: TTCL (629), TRC (792), TPC (252) and TPA (8).

Dr Nchemba made the statement in the National Assembly on behalf of the Minister of State in the Presidents Office – Planning and Investment, in response to a question by Special Seats MP Ms Restituta Mbogo, (CCM)who wanted to know when will the government settle the payments.
