ZANZIBAR, Jan. 27 -- PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has planted a tree at the Bungi Kilimo area in Zanzibar as part of the commemoration of her birthday.
The tree, scientifically known as Mangifera indica and locally referred to as Mwembe Shomari, was planted earlier today, January 27, 2026, by the Head of State to celebrate her birthday.
The President decided to celebrate her birthday uniquely this year by coinciding with the 27 Green Campaign, which promotes greening the country as a way of protecting the environment through tree planting.
