DODOMA, Jan. 6 -- TANZANIANS are set to gain a bigger stake in the countrys booming mining industry after the government unveiled a list of 20 services and products that must now be supplied exclusively by firms wholly owned by locals, in a major push to deepen national participation and retain more value within the economy.

The announcement was made yesterday in Dodoma by the Minister for Minerals, Mr Anthony Mavunde, who said the move follows amendments to the 2018 Local Content Regulations and marks a new phase in ensuring Tanzanians benefit directly from the countrys mineral wealth.
