Dar es Salaam, Feb. 6 -- DAR ES SALAAM: THE Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police have arrested two young girls (students) suspected of fabricating a kidnapping story in a bid to fraudulently extort money from their parents.

Speaking at a press briefing on Tuesday, Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander, Senior Assistant Commissioner of Police (SACP) Muliro Muliro, revealed that the students allegedly staged their own disappearance and falsely claimed to have been kidnapped, with their supposed captors demanding a ransom.

The girls, aged 16 and 12, are residents of Vijibweni in Kigamboni. The older girl is a Form Two student, while the younger one is a Standard Seven pupil.
