ZANZIBAR, Aug. 6 -- THE Zanzibar Police Force has reported a decline in criminal cases during the first half of 2025, with 1,195 cases recorded between January and June, compared to 1,652 cases during the same period in 2024.

Presenting the security assessment report at Police Headquarters at Kilimani, Commissioner of Police (CP) Kombo Khamis Kombo attributed the drop to ongoing efforts by the police, including public education campaigns through legal forums and media outlets.

He said the efforts have increased community awareness about the impact of crime, with reported incidents now categorised into various types, including 409 cases of personal violence such as murder, rape, and sodomy.
