Dar es Salaam, Feb. 22 -- DAR ES SALAAM: CRICKET has officially won a spot in both local and international school-level championships following governments approval, marking a watershed moment for the sport in Tanzania.
Tanzania Cricket Association (TCA) Chairman, Balakrishnan Sreekumar, confirmed on Thursday evening that cricket will now be included in the Inter-Primary and Secondary School Games, the Federation of East Africa School Sports Associations (FEASSA), the All-Africa School Games (FASS) and the International School Festival (ISF).
He further highlighted the governments recognition of cricket in prestigious international school-level tournaments, crediting this success to eight months of relentless effort.
