Dar es Salaam, March 21 -- DODOMA: BENJAMIN Mkapa Hospital (BMH) in Dodoma has successfully performed a groundbreaking brain surgery using sound wave technology.

A neurosurgeon at the hospital and the leader of the surgical team, Dr Maxigama Ndosi, announced in Dodoma that they had successfully treated a patient with a brain haemorrhage using ultrasound waves, effectively removing all the accumulated blood.

“For the first time, Benjamin Mkapa Hospital has introduced the use of ultrasound waves for brain surgery to remove blood clots and tumours through High-Intensity Focused Ultrasound (HIFU). This technology allows for a minimal incision on the head, leaving only a small scar that heals quickly,” said Dr Ndosi.
