Dar es Salaam, March 8 -- DAR ES SALAAM: THE National Arts Council (BASATA) has commended the Tanzania Taarab Music Association for its dedicated efforts in promoting and advancing the Taarab music genre in the country.

The recognition was given by BASATAs Director of Arts Development and Promotion, Edward Buganga, following a meeting held at the councils offices.

Buganga highlighted the significant contributions made by Taarab musicians in preserving and modernising the genre while ensuring its sustainability for future generations.

Buganga stated that Taarab music remains an essential part of Tanzanias cultural heritage and has continued to evolve while maintaining its traditional essence.
