Dar es Salaam, Feb. 6 -- ARUSHA: WOMEN in regions plagued by civil wars and conflicts must receive compensation for their suffering, as they are often the most affected by such atrocities.

This call was made by Lady Justice Imani Daud Aboud, President of the African Court on Human and Peoples Rights, during a judges training session held at the court premises in Arusha.

The session, themed ‘Rendering Justice for Women Through Reparations, focused on the need to address gender-based injustices.

“We have also been reviewing customary laws that contradict international agreements on gender equality and human rights, such as early marriages and womens right to inherit property,” said Lady Justice Aboud.
