DODOMA, Aug. 4 -- PRESIDENT Samia Suluhu Hassan has officially dissolved the Parliament, a critical step paving the way for the General Election scheduled for October 29, 2025.

The announcement was made on Sunday, through Government Notice No. 486 issued on 25th July 2025, in line with Article 90(2)(a) of the Constitution of 1977.

In her proclamation, President Samia invoked her constitutional powers, stating: “I, Samia Suluhu Hassan, President of the United Republic of Tanzania, by the authority vested in me under Article 90(2)(a) of the Constitution, hereby dissolve the Parliament of the United Republic of Tanzania effective 3rd August 2025, to pave the way for the nomination of candidates and the conduct of the General Election...
