Sri Lanka, April 4 -- Astronomer Anura C. Perera has announced that Colombo and its suburbs will experience a rare zero-shadow moment at 12:12 PM on April 7, when the sun will be directly overhead.

Sri Lanka experiences this phenomenon twice a year, as the sun moves over the island. This year's first occurrence began on April 4 at Dondra Head and will continue across different regions, reaching Pedro Point on April 15 before moving away from the country.

To mark the event, a special observation camp will be set up at the Colombo Municipal Council premises from 11:30 AM on April 7.
