Srilanka, March 28 -- The Eppawala Police have arrested a 26-year-old youth, the prime suspect in the murder of a monk at an isolated temple in the Kiralogama area of the Eppawala Police Division.

The arrest occurred on the afternoon of March 27, following a joint operation by the police and military intelligence officers.

The suspect, who had previously worked as a driver for the monk's three-wheeler, was apprehended after investigators traced his whereabouts through the monk's mobile phone.

The suspect had stolen two phones after a violent argument with the monk on March 23, where he attacked the monk with a stick.
