Sri Lanka, Aug. 12 -- A Sri Lankan air passenger who was illegally bringing in a consignment of foreign cigarettes worth Rs. 6 million into the country was arrested by a team of officers of the Police Narcotics Bureau yesterday (11) while it was being taken out of the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA).

The suspect is a 24-year-old resident of the Gunnepana area in Kandy who was working as a domestic worker in Dubai. He had arrived at the BIA on Oman Air from Muscat, Oman, at 05.35 am yesterday (11).

He was arrested when a discovery was made that he was concealing 200 cigarette cartons containing 40,000 cigarettes in the two suitcases he was carrying.
