Sri Lanka, May 4 -- The Special Investigation Unit for the Prevention of Offences Related to Sports yesterday told the Colombo Chief Magistrate Thilina Gamage that the owner of the Kandy Samp Army team, Yoni Patel, who is currently in Sri Lanka, has been ordered to appear before the Matale High Court on May 14.

This follows a complaint about match fixing during the 'Legends Cricket Trophy 2024' held in Pallekelle. The facts about the alleged crime were presented yesterday before Colombo Chief Magistrate Gamage. The unit also opposed a motion filed by Patel's lawyer, Sadun Nagaswatta, requesting permission for Patel to travel to his home country for his wife's urgent surgery.
