Sri Lanka, March 1 -- It has been reported that the Yala National Park has been temporarily closed from today (01) until the current rainy conditions subside.

This is to ensure the safety of tourists and wildlife.

Parks Manager Manoj Vidyarathna points out that due to the heavy rains reported over the past two days, most of the roads in the Yala National Park have been flooded and several tank banks in the park have broken through.

Accordingly, the Katagamuwa and Palatupana entrance gates to Yala Zone No. 1 will be closed.
