Sri Lanka, April 16 -- A 38-year-old woman from Madagascar who had swallowed capsules containing cocaine worth around Rs. 35 million and tried to enter Sri Lanka, was arrested by the Customs Narcotics Control Unit officials at the Bandaranaike International Airport (BIA), on Saturday (13).

She had left Addis Ababa in Ethiopia and had arrived in Colombo via a flight from Mumbai.

She had been admitted to the Negombo Hospital for an X-ray and the authorities found capsules containing drugs in her abdomen.

Officials later retrieved 75 capsules of cocaine.

The woman along with the cocaine was handed over to the officers of Katunayake Airport Police Narcotics Division for further investigations.
