Sri Lanka, Jan. 14 -- The Colombo High Court today (14) ordered the recall of the arrest warrant issued against former Minister Wimal Weerawansa after he appeared in court through his legal representatives.
The case, filed by the Commission to Investigate Allegations of Bribery or Corruption (CIABOC), alleges that Weerawansa unlawfully acquired assets worth over Rs. 75 million. When the matter was first taken up this morning, the former minister was not present, prompting Judge Mohamed Mihal to issue a warrant for his arrest and production before the court.
Following his appearance with legal counsel, the judge subsequently recalled the arrest warrant.
