Srilanka, June 3 -- The National Water Supply and Drainage Board has confirmed that no data was compromised during a recent cyberattack targeting its SMS service.

According to Additional General Manager Pradeep Herath, a specialized security protocol has been activated to further safeguard the board's data systems.

The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon when an unauthorized individual gained access to the board's SMS platform and sent approximately 10,000 fraudulent messages to customers. The messages falsely claimed that customers needed to deposit a specified amount of money to retrieve their data.
