Sri Lanka, May 19 -- Dr. K. Vikram Rao (88), a veteran journalist who served as the long-time president of the 'Indian Federation of Working Journalists', India's first journalist trade union, passed away recently.

The Indian Federation of Working Journalists is the oldest and largest journalists' trade union in India comprising over 50,000 journalists working in over 1,260 print and electronic media networks across 29 states of India.

Vikram Rao was active in the media profession for 45 years as a well-known newspaper editor, journalist, broadcaster and television anchor.
