Sri Lanka, Oct. 7 -- Sri Lanka's only artistic swimmer, 16-year-old Venuki Wijesena, once again made the nation proud by finishing fifth in the Women's Solo Free Final at the 11th Asian Aquatics Championship held at the Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, India yesterday.
Venuki scored 156.8588 points, achieving her personal best in the Solo Free Final. She finished ahead of two Philippine competitors, Georgia Francesca (127.0763) and Lucia Antonia (96.6213).
The gold medal went to Kazakhstan's Karina Magrupova, who scored 202.8900 points, followed by Singapore's Thean Rachel with 201.5639 for silver, and Uzbekistan's Sabina Makhmudova with 184.4525 for bronze. China's Yang Ziruo, with 182.6750 points, placed just above Sri Lanka...
