Srilanka, May 23 -- The Chief Incumbent of Sri Mangalaramaya Batticoloa, Venerable Ampitiye Sumanarathana Thero, has been arrested by the Uhana Police in Ampara.

The arrest follows an incident of disorderly conduct at the Uhana Police Station. According to reports, the Thero allegedly protested the arrest of a suspect who had arrived with two children in an unsafe three-wheeler, and proceeded to act disruptively within the police premises.

Authorities are currently conducting further investigations into the incident.
