Sri Lanka, Aug. 2 -- US Ambassador in Colombo yesterday said that strong US partnership including capacity building and infrastructure development under US assistance has helped seize 17.5 kg of hashish and cocaine including the first ever interdiction of cocaine slabs at the Bandaranaike International Airport and 4.2 kg of synthetic drugs at the Central Mail exchange.

The ambassador said that a stock of synthetic drugs weighing 4.2 kg concealed in parcel mails were detected at the Central Mail Exchange. "The total estimated street value of these two major narcotics seizures is US$ 1.6 million", the ambassador said in a post on X.
