Sri Lanka, March 27 -- United National Party (UNP) will hold its May Day celebration this year at Panchikawatte in Colombo, Party General Secretary Palitha Range Bandara said.

Addressing the media at party headquarters in Sirikotha yesterday he said the UNP was making elaborate plans with more than 1,000 regional organisers been appointed to hold a strong May Day rally.

He said the UNP expects to bring over 50,000 supporters for its May Day event.

"Also, the youth programme with a large group of young people is going to be implemented in held on April 6 and on April 7 in Kandy another programme will be held. President Ranil Wickremesinghe will meet the people personally and discuss prevailing issues," he said.
