Sri Lanka, Feb. 11 -- With the upcoming session of the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) scheduled to discuss Sri Lanka, the global campaign to denounce and malign this country has commenced. The latest to jump the bandwagon is the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) which called on the government to repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) adding that the proposed new set of reforms are inadequate.

The ICJ statement came in the backdrop of last week's Cabinet approval of the proposed amendments to the Prevention of Terrorism (Temporary Provisions) Act of 1979 (PTA) which was subsequently gazetted.
