In a statement issued following his visit to Badulla this week, Franche said he met families and communities still struggling to recover from the impact of floods and landslides triggered by the cyclone.

He noted that the disaster had disrupted livelihoods, limited access to safe drinking water, and created ongoing uncertainty regarding housing solutions for many affected families.
