Srilanka, March 25 -- The United Kingdom has imposed sanctions on four Sri Lankans, including former military leaders and an ex-LTTE commander, over alleged human rights abuses during Sri Lanka's civil war.

The sanctions target:

General Shavendra Silva (former Chief of Defence Staff) Admiral of the Fleet Wasantha Karannagoda (former Navy Commander) General Jagath Jayasuriya (former Army Commander) Vinayagamoorthy Muralitharan, alias Karuna Amman (former LTTE leader) Under these sanctions, the individuals are banned from traveling to the UK and are prohibited from holding assets in the country. Any assets they may have in the UK will also be frozen, as confirmed by the British government.
