Srilanka, March 4 -- A group of countries, led by the United Kingdom, has submitted a report to the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) during its 58th session yesterday (03).
The report, jointly presented by the UK, Canada, Malawi, Montenegro, and North Macedonia, evaluates last year's peaceful elections and the actions of Sri Lanka's current government. It commends efforts to return land, foster reconciliation, remove roadblocks, and allow commemorative events in the North and East.
Additionally, the report supports the government's initiatives to amend the Prevention of Terrorism Act (PTA) while stressing the importance of aligning these reforms with international legal obligations.
