Sri Lanka, April 8 -- The Colombo Organised Crime Division had arrested two suspects for extorting Rs. 2.5 million from a Buddhist monk at a temple in Moratuwa, Police Spokesman DIG Ajith Rohana said.

The Colombo Organised Crimes Division has arrested the perpetrators when they had arrived at the temple demanding Rs.500,000 as the first instalment.

DIG Ajith Rohana also said a car used by the suspects was also seized. He also said that a special investigation regarding the suspects will be carried out with Intelligence Units.

The suspects were to be produced before Moratuwa Magistrate's Court yesterday.

The Colombo Organised Crime Division is conducting further investigations.
