Sri Lanka, Feb. 3 -- The Kandy Weights and Measures Inspection Office and the Consumer Affairs Authority have taken steps to take legal action against 27 traders at the Kandy Central Market on a number of charges, including changing the scales to show more than the prescribed weight and exploiting the customers.
Assistant Superintendent at Kandy Weights and Measures Inspection Office A.G.S. Ariyapala said that during a raid on the Saturday with the help of the Kandy Police, some traders left their goods in those places and ran away with the scales and others had hidden the weighing equipment in the refrigerators.
