Srilanka, March 17 -- A public passenger transport bus traveling from Nikaweratiya to Colombo veered off the road and crashed into a tree, a shop, and a house in the Batthuluoya area of the Arachchikattuwa Police Division, injuring 21 people on board.

The accident occurred on the morning of March 17. Fortunately, a young child sleeping in the house narrowly escaped injury when a cupboard fell on the bed, injuring only the child's hand.

The bus, severely damaged in the incident, struck an electric pole before hitting the tree, preventing more severe damage and potentially saving the lives of people in the house.
