Srilanka, May 14 -- A bus transporting a group of pilgrims veered off the road and fell into a lower-level by road at Kurudugahamada in Kulugammana, Kandy, leaving 29 passengers injured, according to police. The accident occurred around 10 PM on Monday 12, with nine children under 15 among the injured.
The bus had 30 passengers onboard at the time and nineteen of them were admitted to Kandy National Hospital, six to Peradeniya Teaching Hospital, three to Katugastota Hospital and one person to Thittapajjala Rural Hospital.
Local youth organising a dansala nearby halted their activities to help transport the injured to the hospital, police said.
