Sri Lanka, Dec. 26 -- A tsunami commemoration was held this morning (26) near the Akmeemana Kurunduwatta mass grave, the final resting place for approximately 1,800 victims of the 2004 tsunami whose bodies could not be individually identified.
The event was organized by the Akmeemana Pradeshiya Sabha and was attended by relatives of the deceased, who performed religious rituals and laid floral tributes at the tsunami memorial in memory of their loved ones.
A team of medical professionals, including Specialist Forensic Physician U.C.P. Perera from Karapitiya Hospital and several coroners, were also present.
