Srilanka, July 7 -- A veterinary team led by Dr. Tharindu Wijekoon from the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine, University of Peradeniya, arrived at the Polpithigama area in the Mahawa Wildlife Zone around 6:30 a.m. today (July 7) to continue treatment for the ailing tusker, Bhathiya.
Although Bhathiya had been placed in a stable position using sandbags yesterday, he had moved to a different spot overnight and wandered a short distance. The veterinary team has administered essential nutrients, protein supplements, and antibiotics, as the elephant is suffering from multiple wounds.
