Sri Lanka, July 21 -- A young woman is missing after falling into the Vienna Canal in the 17th Kanuwa area of the Mahiyanganaya Police Division while trying to save her boyfriend who had accidentally slipped into the water.

According to the police, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. yesterday (20). The couple had been walking along the canal bank when the young man slipped from a muddy spot and fell into the canal due to the strong water current.

As the girlfriend attempted to rescue him, she too lost her footing and fell into the canal.

An officer from the Mahiyanganaya Police Training School and his wife, who were nearby, managed to pull the young man out of the water. However, the young woman could not be found and remains missing....
