Srilanka, April 21 -- Residents of Nuwara Eliya have raised concerns over environmental damage caused by some local tourists who visited the area during the recent spring festival.

According to the Nuwara Eliya Tourist Hotels Association, a large influx of local visitors arrived in the city during the Sinhala and Hindu New Year period, with many staying until April 20. However, some of these tourists are reported to have left behind significant amounts of litter, including plastic bags, polythene, food wrappers, water bottles, and beer cans.
